A rewards scheme which is being run at St Aidan’s Church of England Academy in Darlington is proving a real success.
The Model Student scheme, which was launched last year, rewards students for displaying the attributes of the core values, care, respect and responsibility along with good attendance, positive attitude and hard work.
Four hundred and thirty one students have already achieved model student status, of which there are a series of levels, allowing students to advance as their achievements increase.
Sean Boyd, Assistant Principal, said: “The Model Student programme rewards students who work hard and adhere to our core values whilst they are at the Academy.
“It also encourages good attendance as students can only qualify if their attendance is high.
“To have so many students already achieving badges is very pleasing because the scheme helps them to make the connection between effort, hard work and rewards, which is a good thing.
“Our Academy motto is Together We Can and this scheme is demonstrating how our students are supporting each other to achieve.”
Model student Olivia Bowes said: “The scheme rewards attendance and effort and I think it is a good idea because it makes us proud of how good we are and what we have achieved.”
Fellow Model Student Dale Woollatt said: “I was included because of my hard work and attendance, and because of my attitude to learning. It recognises your effort when you try to get better.”
