St Aidan’s Church of England Academy, in Darlington, has teamed up with Star Radio to sponsor an award for County Durham’s outstanding young business person. The Academy, which is a business and enterprise specialist, is sponsoring the ‘Outstanding Young Person’ Award in the awards run by the Darlington based radio station. In addition to their prize, all winners of the Star Business Awards will share in £20,000 of advertising prize money as the radio station’s way of helping local businesses to raise their profile and enhance their reputation. The Outstanding Young Person award acknowledges that: “Young people play a valuable part in business. This category encourages nominations from any business, charity or organisation who feel they have a young person aged between 16-25 years who has made an exceptional contribution to the workplace. Judges will be looking for nominees who have excelled in their field and who have made a positive impact on the business.” The awards will be announced on the 3rd November at a ceremony to be held at the Xcel Centre, in Long Tens Way, Aycliffe Business Park, County Durham. Academy Principal Alison Appleyard said: “We are proud of the way we teach our students about the world of business and enterprise and sponsoring this award is part of our commitment to building the entrepreneurs of the future. We work with our young people to give them the business skills they need to become the next young entrepreneurs and build a bright future for our economy. The future of business lies in the hands of our young people and this award will help highlight some exciting entrepreneurs, giving them the recognition that they deserve.” More details are available at http://www.thisisstar.co.uk
